January 1 brought us across the Estero Bay from Lover’s Key to the strange yet beautiful Koreshan State Historic Site. This park was full of fun loving volunteers and we cherish the friendships that we made there.
Feb. 14th Rick created a beautiful heart and key sculpture for the Friends of Lover’s Key and their 3rd Annual Vows Renewal Event. What a special event and the evening was beautiful!
Early March brought an interview with an SW Florida publication; Coastal Life. This interview highlighted sand sculpting in general as well as informing readers of the services BeachSandSculptures.com offers.
We were approached with the opportunity to work along side Bill and Marianne Knight of The Sand Lovers, LLC, a professional sand sculpting company during the Sand Bash 2012 (go to the very bottom of the page to see us). My responsibilities during this event included; event logistics, shoveling sand, assisting the Masters, shoveling sand, sand sculpting, shoveling sand, demonstrations, general event administration and did I mention shoveling sand?Capri worked hard to keep the on- sight vendors happy and informed, as the Vendor Concierge. This opportunity gave us great insight and experience working directly with Master Sand Sculptors from around the world.
Our time in SW Florida equated to 7 full months. We met many new people, renewed a few relationships and generally had a blast playing in the sun and sand. Oh, and Capri rode more than a few miles on that old Colorado mountain bike!
