Take a Sandcastle Lesson on 30A
Make your beach vacation memorable
When you see an awesome sandcastle created on a pristine beach, doesn’t it make you long for those sweet relaxing days of summer? Sandcastles promote the essence of enjoyable times at the seaside and they create a desire to capture that beach-side ambiance that settles the soul, where waves gently caress all your cares away.
It is these calming reasons that sandcastle are the perfect representative to promote tourism for beach communities everywhere. Anywhere that tourism development promotions are viewed sandcastles can and do evoke people’s desire to visit the beach. But that’s not where the allure of sandcastles has to end. Businesses in beach communities and even some who are land-locked are beginning to realize the inexpiable draw and crowd pleasing performance art of sand sculptures.
Sand Sculptures are intriguing as well as inspiring, people have been known to travel hundreds of miles just to see them. “People are constantly contacting us, wanting to know where they can go to see one of our sand sculptures”, explains Capri Mungeam, who together with her husband Rick own and operate Beach Sand Sculptures. Sandcastles can actually become an attraction that people travel to see, photograph and share with friends and family.
Today social media is one of the largest forms of advertisement. Consider how many times a business logo on a sand sculpture might be photographed or videotaped by standard media like TV and newpaper, add to that the hundreds, possibly thousands, of photos that might be taken of the same sculpture with camera phones and by amateur photographers, but don’t stop there. Multiply those numbers by the friends of each person who shares their photos on social media such as Facebook Twitter, and Pinterest, and the impact becomes astronomical.
“We (Beach Sand Sculptures) posted a photo of our “Illumination Castle” on DestinShines! Facebook page, within 48 hours there were 1,400 “Like”s on the picture. A sand sculpture created for Christmas Card photo opportunities went to an incredible 500+% virility. Recently a picture of a single tower sandcastle with gorgeous emerald water in the background was shared 155 times with the resultant report from facebook; “52,000+ people who saw this post””, shared Capri, who is responsible for social media marketing for Beach Sand Sculptures. Numbers like these translate into valuable interactive exposure that can promote any business whose logo is etched in sand.
Beach Sand Sculptures can professionally sculpt your logo in sand and assist in media promotions to obtain the maximum exposure for your advertising dollars. Sand Sculptures deliver high returns on investment, because people love sandcastles; and sandcastles promote tourism.

Florida: The Perfect Climate for BeachSandSculptures.com
BeachSandSculptures.com embrace Orange Ties and Sand Sculptures
Florida has just begun a new campaign to attract business to the Sunshine State. “The branding campaign will feature orange-colored neckties, strategically-placed sand-sculptures and the slogan: “Florida: The perfect climate for business” reports The Buzz from the staff of the Tampa Bay Times.

BeachSandSculptures.com found GOLD in Florida: The perfect business climate
Florida: The perfect climate for business is exactly what Rick and Capri Mungeam of Beach Sand Sculptures discovered first hand over the last couple of years. Their business, BeachSandSculptures.com is a professional sand sculpting company based on The Emerald Coast of Florida. “We could have launched our business on any coast, but we chose Florida for a number of reasons” stated Mungeam, as a matter of fact.
A business is very much like a sand sculpture. Initially you have to choose where you are planning to build. A marketing sand sculpture would not be created on a remote beach; exposure is critical for success. Beach Sand Sculptures has discovered year round activities in Florida, making it the perfect location to build just about any business. The next important consideration when creating a business or sand sculpture is the foundation. It is an established fact that a strong foundation can make all the difference in the overall outcome of every endeavor. The Florida economy is the 21st largest economy in the world, that’s a great foundation on which to build a business. What sets apart Beach Sand Sculptures from the average sandcastle builder on the beach is their ability and capacity to create a sculpture that will stand taller than the rest. Businesses need room for growth and expansion. Florida’s residence and Florida’s tourism are two built in providers of growth for the businesses that make Florida their home. Heaven is in the details. When the unnecessary sand has been cast away it is the intricately carved details of the masterpiece beneath that cause people to say, “WOW!” The collective details of emerald green water, family friendly environment, warm climate, friendly locals and tourists alike, and the beautiful sugar white sand beaches create the enchantment of Florida’s Emerald Coast. It was this magic of combined details that caused the Mungeams to say, “WOW!” this is the place to start our business. Whether you are building sand sculptures or looking for a place to start, grow or move your business; Florida is the perfect climate!

Facebook Milestone for Beach Sand Sculptures

1000 “Like”s
by Anne Bennett
Santa Rosa Beach, Florida The hand gesture, “thumbs up” has been a symbol for acceptance and approval for long time. Siskle and Ebert, as movie critics, used the thumbs up signal to inform the American population whether a movie was worth their time and money to view. Likewise Facebook has used their version of this iconic hand symbol with great success, creating an entire generation who “like it on Facebook”.
The pix of their elaborately detailed sand sculptures are what drive their fans to “Like”. People love sand sculptures. A picture of the 7ft tall “Illumination Castle” received 1,300 “Like”s in just 48 hours and a Christmas sand sculpture hit 500%+ virility – those numbers are HUGE in the social media stats. Capri is fond of saying, “Sand sculptures intrigue the mind, capture the soul, and delight the heart,” and it’s so true, there is something magical about sand sculptures.
Being creative in the sand is not enough; to be competitive BeachSandSculptures invests time, money, and energy being innovative in their social networks. Quickly it became obvious the BeachSandSculptures.com Facebook Fan Page would hit the 1.0K milestone within the first 6 months of its launch and as the 1000th “Like” approached, Rick and Capri knew they wanted to reward their fans for making the social media benchmark possible. So being the sculptors that they are, they created . . . a sand sculpture, took a picture and posted it on Facebook. It’s been said, “A picture is worth a thousand words” and so with one picture of a sand sculpture created exclusively for their first 1000 fans, Beach Sand Sculptures said, “Thank You” a thousand times.
Topsail Hill State Park Beach Sand Sculpture
BeachSandSculptures.com to create Sand Sculpture on 30A
BeachSandSculptures.com is scheduled for re-building the sand sculpture in Topsail Hill State Park’s “SandBox” Jan 8-10 (8-3). Beach Sand Sculptures intrique our minds, stir our souls and delight our hearts, yet the performance art, witnessing the intricate carving of the sand can be very much like a meditation. Obviously the sculpture will be further along each day, with the exact completion time on the Jan. 10th unknown, but if you need a little mid-winter meditation and intrigue, Topsail Hill State Park (off Scenic Hwy 30A) would be the place to be. This beach sand sculpture will be “state park-ish” and will include the park’s name and Florida State Park insignia, nature/beach critters and items as well as the Viva Florida 500 logo may be included as the sculpture takes shape.

Richard G. Mungeam
Lead Sand Sculptor and Instructor
by Anne Bennett
In a former life Rick Mungeam was renowned residential architect traveling extensively designing custom resort homes showcased in several architectural publications. But the economic changes of 2008 resulted in Rick and his wife, Capri, selling their home in Colorado to begin traveling.
South Padre Island, Tx, late 2010, under the tutelage of Andy Hancock, Master Sand Sculptor, Rick learned the basics of sand sculpting. By mid 2011 Rick was honing his sand sculpting skills on The Emerald Coast of The Florida Panhandle, near Destin, along Scenic Hwy 30A, when his sandcastle with a romantic heart was used for a wedding, and later for several family portraits, Rick realized his talent might develop into a business.
Nov. 2011, Rick won the Pro-Am Division of The World Championship of Sand Sculpting to further exhort his talents. 2012 watched BeachSandSculptures.com became the reigning Sand Sculpting Champions and a visible and known presence along Florida’s Emerald Coast.
Their boys are grown now, but through home schooling their two sons Rick and Capri learned creative teaching skills that Rick now utilizes as he offers design services in the form of sand sculpting creations. From 30A and Santa Rosa Beach business advertisements in sand to corporate team building at WaterColor or Seaside, a private party on the Dune Allen Beach to corporate events at the ritzy Sandestin resorts, Alys Beach wedding proposal or a Rosemary Beach wedding sculptures, and inspirational sand castle on Grayton Beach or sculpting lessons at Topsail State Park, Beach Sand Sculptures can create a sculpture to meet your needs and exceed your wildest imagination.
Capri Mungeam
AKA Aqua Woman, Sand Sculpting Apprentice, Marketing
They say, “Behind every successful man their is a successful woman”, this is often said to emphasize that a man’s success often depends on the work and support of his wife. That may or may not be the case with The Mungeams, but one thing is for certain, they’ve been a successful business team for nearly 30 year now.
Initially sand sculpting was definitely Rick’s forte, Capri talk with the people on the beach, handed out business cards and promoted Rick’s Sandcastle Lessons. But over the last couple of years she has watched carefully and slowly absorbed many of the finer details of sand carving. She still feel like she has much to learn, but the alligator she sculpted on the Topsail Hill State Park Sand Sculpture caught the eye of many a “Gators” fans as one said, “that’s a good lookin’ gator”.
The design development is Rick’s department. “Rick is really the artist”, Capri is fond of saying, “but I come up with a lot of ideas and sometimes their pretty good”, she said with a smile. Typically when they begin a project Rick shovels and Capri hauls the water from the nearest water source – usually The Gulf of Mexico. They methodically work together to build their sculpture foundation and fill the forms. The couple has worked out their individual roles while they create a sand sculpture in order not to “step on each others toes” if you will.
The other major role that Capri takes is the “behind the sands” marketing. “I’m getting my marketing degree through Social Media. There is much to learn”, . With the ever changing advertising/marketing innovations and technology The Mungeams realize, that today, if you aren’t communicating with your the world via Social Media you are frankly “dead in the sand”. When BeachSandSculptures.com on Facebook received it’s 1000th “Like” in less than 6 months, Capri knew they were onto something very unique. They’ve even incorporated offering media and social media services to help clients to gain the maximum PR out of their Beach Sand Sculptures.
